Thailand's Andaman Coast

The Andaman coast is a long stretch of mainland and islands, and the places here make different kinds of trips. Phuket is Thailand's largest island, linked to Phang Nga by the Sarasin Bridge. Khao Lak is a strip of mainland beach villages and resorts. Krabi is shaped by limestone cliffs and islands, with mainland strips such as Ao Nang and boat-access Railay. In the north, Koh Phayam is a car-free island off Ranong. Further south, Koh Kradan, Koh Mook and Koh Tarutao are islands off Trang and Satun.

Overview

The Andaman coast is a long stretch of mainland and islands, and the places here make different kinds of trips. Phuket is Thailand's largest island, linked to Phang Nga by the Sarasin Bridge. Khao Lak is a strip of mainland beach villages and resorts. Krabi is shaped by limestone cliffs and islands, with mainland strips such as Ao Nang and boat-access Railay. In the north, Koh Phayam is a car-free island off Ranong. Further south, Koh Kradan, Koh Mook and Koh Tarutao are islands off Trang and Satun.

Good to know

Koh Tarutao closes to visitors in the monsoon or off-season, and sources disagree on the reopening date, so confirm with the park. Koh Bulon Leh, off Satun, has scheduled boats only part of the year, so confirm current schedules. Boat access differs island by island, and some islands, such as Koh Phayam and Koh Lipe, have no cars.
