Good to knowTiming matters

Town hotels concentrate around the railway station and old-town dim-sum core — island and Pak Meng coast stays are separate destination geometry, not an in-town second base.

What it's like

Where to stay

Trang town's dim-sum old town and the hotel belt around the railway station form one walkable overnight base for city-and-gateway visits. Pak Meng, the Trang/Satun island group, and other coast segments are separate destination geometry — not a second in-town Stay comparison for Trang town.

When to go

December-April is the dry season, with clear skies, calm seas, and conditions that favor combining Trang town with island-hopping day trips. May-October brings the monsoon, with heavy rainfall and tougher seas that can make ferry crossings to the islands difficult and lead some island resorts to close entirely.

Getting there & around

Getting there

Non-stop flights run from Bangkok's Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airports to Trang Airport in about 1 hour 20-30 minutes. Two daily night trains on the Southern Line run from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal to Trang Railway Station instead, saving a night's accommodation on a scenic overnight journey.

Getting around

From Trang Airport, a taxi or tuk tuk into town costs around 150 THB for a direct, private ride, or a minibus runs for around 90 THB per passenger as a shared, lower-fare alternative.

How Trang fits your trip

May suit travelers using Trang town as a dim-sum heritage and island-ferry gateway, staying in the old-town and railway-station hotel belt while treating Pak Meng and offshore islands as separate coast destinations.

Dates, other stops, and what matters on this trip can make this fit clearer.
