Things to do
- Cross-lake landmarks — The wooden Mon Bridge spans the Vajiralongkorn (Khao Laem) reservoir to the Mon side at Ban Wang Ka. Long-tail boats also cross to the sunken temple, Wat Saam Prasob — the only visible remnant of the old town flooded by the Khao Laem Dam.
- Border day trip — Green pickups run hourly from the bus station to Three Pagodas Pass, a 30-40 minute trip to the Myanmar frontier market about 20km away. The central town, bridge, and parts of Ban Wang Ka can also be explored on foot without leaving the immediate area.

Getting there & around
Getting there
Buses run direct from Bangkok's Mo Chit station, taking 7-8 hours and passing via Kanchanaburi. Route 323 from Kanchanaburi town is the only practical road approach for travelers already in the area, with public transport normally taking four to five hours from there on a mostly air-conditioned bus service.
