Getting there & around
Getting there
A private driver from Chiang Rai costs noticeably more than the alternative but goes door-to-door on your schedule, versus a public bus to the Mae Chan intersection followed by a shared green songthaew climbing into the village. A day trip from Chiang Rai works, but an overnight allows slower drives, cooler mornings, and better odds of mountain fog; the drive itself takes a couple of hours depending on route.
