Things to do
- Landmarks — The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, built in 1909 in neo-Gothic style by French missionaries, is the largest Catholic cathedral in Thailand and can be visited any day. The Gems Market (Talad Ploy) around Si Chan Road and Trok Kachang is the town's gem-dealing commercial centre, busiest with trading on Friday and Saturday mornings.
- Day trip vs. in-town walk — Khao Khitchakut National Park, about 28km from town, holds the 13-level Krathing Waterfall and a mountaintop Buddha-footprint pilgrimage site that draws large crowds around Magha Puja in February or March. The Chanthaboon Waterfront old town, by contrast, is a walkable in-town riverside stretch of century-old wooden shophouses with a history tied to the liberation of Ayutthaya.
